Tracking EHS legislation has never been easier
EHS Tracker allows you to easily monitor your jurisdiction for changed and new EHS legislation. The first step in this process is building a legal register. A legal register is a list of laws and regulations that apply to your operations. This is as simple as selecting the legislation from our database and then organizing it by business activity. Watch this video to see how you can build a legal register in record time.
Start tracking legislation with a free trial account at EHS Tracker here.
Once you have built a legal register, you can start tracking changes and new legislation.
The Under Review Page

This page shows updated and new legislation in your jurisdictions that is applicable to your industrial sectors.
Updated legislation that is listed in your legal register appears on this page with a yellow Updated icon.
Green items highlight new legislation that has been added to the EHS Tracker database and that matches all of the following criteria:
- The new legislation is in a jurisdiction that your register is in, or it is in the Federal jurisdiction.
- The new legislation is in a sector that your register is in.
- The new legislation is not already in your legal register.
Review this legislation with ease

The Reviewed button next to each items allows you to review updated or new legislation. You can include a note that will be stored in the logs for future reference and as evidence for auditing purposes. When alerted of any new legislation, you can optionally decide not to track the legislation in question or change the activity name. If you change the activity name, you will be adding that new legislation to your legal register and it will be tracked going forward.
We hope these new tools will help you manage your EHS legal obligations in a much more efficient and rigorous manner. Should you have any comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@nimonik.ca.
We are thrilled to announce a new version of EHSQ Reporter for iPhone and iPad. This version has been in the works for sometime and we are very proud of it. You can now synchronise your audit reports, including notes, photos, videos and audio to our easy to use website where you can generate rich reports.
All companies can synchronise two audits free of charge every year. Should you wish to synchronise more audits; you will require a subscription to WikiChecklists.com. Our plans and prices are available here and start as low as 20$/month.
For regular users of EHSQ Reporter, please read the details of this important message.
The new version of EHSQ Reporter allows for full synchronisation of all of your data between your iPad, iPhone and WikiChecklists web service. If you share an account with colleagues, your data will be shared with them as well.
A synchronisation upgrade is a complex task and there are some important notes we wish to share with you. We are taking every precaution to ensure that your information and data are safe and secure, and therefore it is important that you follow our simple guidelines.
What happens on first synchronisation?
1. All Facilities must have unique names.
2. All Checklists under a Facility must have unique titles.
3. All Items under a Checklist must have unique names within a group.
Both EHSQ Reporter and our website make sure that you get prompted to change name if it is not unique.
Any Facility created in EHSQ Reporter that shares the same name as an existing Facility on the server (e.g. synchronized by your colleague or added in the website), will be merged with the later. The same applies to any corresponding Checklists and Items. This only happens on the first synchronization.
If a Facility/Checklist/Item gets updated both in your EHSQ Reporter and on the server, the most recently updated version will be synchronised to all devices.
Some other important changes
- Plant Managers and Auditors have been moved from the Facility level to the Checklist Level. Only Auditors are currently synchronised to the website.
- You can now customise status names for each Checklist, simply view the details of your Checklist.
- There are no longer any audit dates at the Facility level, only at the Checklist level.
We still have improvements coming for the app and we look forward to sharing those with you over the coming months. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Should you have any questions about these changes, please contact us at info@nimonik.ca or consult our help page at http://www.nimonikapp.ca/help

A checklist is a list of items you need to verify, check or inspect. Checklists are used in every imaginable field — from building inspections to complex medical surgeries. Using a checklist allows you to ensure you don’t forget any important steps.
You should verify you are meeting the intent of every item on your checklist and possibly take notes, photos, audio, video or audio recordings related to that item.
Here is a safety audit checklist, a flight take-off checklist, and a Crane Operation Checklist.
There is no perfect checklist, but if you follow these simple steps, you should be on your way to a rigorous and reliable checklist. You can also use our great iPad and iPhone application to manage your checklists and audit and inspection results. (LINK).
1. Make each item clear and concise.
It is important that each item on your checklist is easily understood by the person using the checklist. What is a checklist if no one can understand it? Each item should also be concise to ensure it is as easy to use as possible.
2. Group your items by category.
Short checklists don’t need categories, but longer ones can quickly get out of hand. By organising your items in categories, you can quickly navigate to the portion of the checklist that you are working on. Don’t over organize and be sure to use simple category names to ensure you can quickly find the checklist item you are looking for.
3. Make each item actionable.
This is very important. The power of a checklist is that you can take action on each item and ensure you are meeting the intent of that item. If your checklist items are too ambiguous or vague, you will tick the box, but will you have really completed it? Saying things like “Check Safety Exits” is too vague, you should try breaking it into smaller items, such as “Check safety exits are clear of obstacles”, “Check safety exit signs are illuminated”, “Check safety exit doors open properly”… By breaking down items into action, you make your checklist much more powerful.
4. Don’t skip anything on the list.
What is the purpose of a checklist if you skip questions or categories? It is important that your checklist be used fully each time, if you find yourself skipping questions, you should ask if the checklist is properly formatted for your purposes.
5. Ensure your notes, evidence or other results are used to improve performance.
Some checklists are just tick-boxes to be completed, but you can certainly have richer checklists that allow you to identify follow-up items. For each item, you can reply in the affirmative (yes), negative (no), not applicable (n/a) or mark as incomplete. You should also be sure to take notes that indicate what could be improved. If applicable, photos, video or audio evidence should augment your checklist findings. Lastly, you can always identify next steps for correcting any items you have had trouble with. And remember, a checklist should constantly be improved as you use it.
So, what is a checklist? It is certainly not a simple list of questions, a checklist is a detailed number of concise and actionable items that can be used repeatedly to identify weaknesses or lapses in your process and ensure you stay on top of all those pesky details.
Best of luck with your audits, verifications and checklists and please contact us if you would like to add your favourite checklists to wikichecklists.com.
